While I play Don’t Starve, I tend to empathize with my character’s plight. As my character is having a hard time scraping things together, my stomach tends to chime in with a grumble. Making food in the game makes me think of all the delicious things I could be eating. But of course I’ll continue playing because the game has my complete attention. One of the most popular foods to make in game is the meatball. In order to stay true to the recipe in the game, I had to use both meat and vegetables. An easy vegetable to find in the game are carrots. For the protein, I decided to go with turkey even though turkeys in Don’t Starve are such jerks. They run around gobbling down your berry surplus without any concern for the coming winter. Stupid turkeys are making me hungry now. Let’s get to the recipe!
Required Equipment: bowl, large pan, sauce pan
Serving: 12-15 meatballs
Ingredients:
– 1 lb ground turkey
– ½ carrot, shredded
– ¼ onion, shredded
– 2 garlic cloves, shredded
– ¼ cup parmesan, shredded
– ¼ cup panko
– salt
– pepper
– 2 tbsp oregano
– 1 tbsp basil
– olive oil
– 1 jar of marinara
In a bowl, combine all ingredients but the marinara sauce. Split the mixture into 12-15 equal pieces. Take each portion and roll them up to form a ball.
Heat a large pan with olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the meatballs and brown each side.
Once the meatballs have browned remove them from the pan and place them in a deep sauce pan with the marinara sauce. Cover and cook over medium-low heat for 25 minutes.
