Irish Hot Chocolate

Ingredients

Irish Cream

  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 1/2 cup Irish whiskey
  • 1 tsp cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract

Whipped Irish Cream

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 3 tbsp Irish cream

Hot Chocolate per serving

  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1/4 - 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 -2 oz bittersweet chocolate
  • 1/4 cup Irish cream

Instructions

Irish Cream

  • Combine all the ingredients for the Irish cream in a blender until well mixed together. Place in an airtight container and place in the refrigerator to keep cold. This mixture will be good for up to two weeks.

Whipped Irish Cream

  • To make the whipped Irish cream, place all of the ingredients in a bowl. Whip together until it forms stiff peaks. Place in the refrigerator until you are going to use it. I recommend using the prepared whipped cream the same day you make it.

Irish Hot Chocolate

  • For the hot chocolate, combine the milk, sugar, and ground cinnamon in a saucepan over medium-high heat. 
  • Bring to a light simmer and add the chocolate chips, adding 1/2 ounce at a time to balance the chocolate level of your drink. I like my drink to be extremely chocolatey so I put the full amount. 
  • In a cup, combine the hot chocolate, milk, and Irish cream. Top with whipped Irish cream.
