Wake up, take a shower, go to work, come home, eat, go to sleep and repeat. Seems like an average day in the common adult life. What if you had control of that person’s life? Would you stay on that mundane routine or go off the rails and do whatever you want? Can you handle that much power? Almost sounds a little overwhelming. To have complete control of this person you’d have to jump into The Sims universe.
The core concept of The Sims franchise is interesting; you take control of an individual’s life and direct how they live. Recently, my sister came down to Houston. We began talking about different things and I showed her a few of my recipes. I know The Sims 3 is one of the few video games she really enjoys playing. Since she enjoys the game so much and reads my blog I’ll give her a little shout out. One of the conversations we have had about the game was this weird idea of “What if we are Sims?” It makes for a really weird feeling that there is a higher being controlling everything you do.
This week we will be exploring an easy recipe and one of my sister’s favorite foods, macaroni and cheese. I figured this post would be specifically for her but everyone else will get a little lesson on how to make delicious foods. Enough talk, let’s get to cooking!
Servings: 5 bowls
6 tbsp butter
6 tbsp flour
2-3 cups milk (depending how thick you want the sauce)
1/2 lb. cheddar cheese, shredded
1/2 lb. fontina cheese, shredded
16 oz large elbow macaroni, cooked
Place a sauce pan over medium-high heat. Melt the butter in the pan. Once the butter has melted, slowly add the flour while constantly whisking.
After the butter and flour have combined into roux, slowly introduce the milk while whisking. It is very important that you do this slowly and to be constantly whisking. This will allow the sauce to become nice and thick.
Above you will see images of the half way point and the last bit of milk added.
Place the cheese in the sauce in small batches. Add the garlic powder and pepper to flavor.
Once the cheese mixture is set pour the sauce in a bowl with the cooked macaroni. It is now ready for your consumption and I promise this is better than any box macaroni and cheese that you have had.
