When your adventurers are feeling weary from their travels, food is a great way to keep your traveling heroes healthy. In Recettear, there are several food items in the game that you can aid you on your journey. First, your heroes that adventure down in the dungeons can use them to recover health and mana. Secondly you can use them as items to sell in your shop. You always have to weigh the cost of either using the food to assist your hero or forgoing the positive effects for extra crash. Such difficult choices for a young store owner! One of the very first food items you have access to in the game is walnut bread. The concept of walnut bread has always intrigued me, so I was excited to try replicating it. If you love the flavor of walnuts, this bread is most certainly for you! I was hesitant to dive into the world of breadmaking, but I was pleasantly surprised to find out it is not all that difficult. Let take a look at the recipe.
Required Equipment: bowl, baking sheet
Results:two loafs
Ingredients:
1 ½ cup (375 ml) warm water
1 tbsp dry yeast
½ cup (125 ml) honey
¼ cup butter, melted
2 tsp salt
5 cups all purpose flour
7 oz (200 g) walnuts, roasted
In a large bowl, combine the warm water and dry yeast. Let it sit for a few minutes until the yeast begins to foam. Add ½ cup of the flour and mix.
Stir in honey, butter and salt. Add the flour a cup at a time and stop once the dough comes together. Knead the dough for five minutes. Cover and let rest until the dough has doubled in size.
Take the dough out and knead it slightly. Cut the dough in half and flatten each half. Add half of the walnuts to the flattened dough.
Carefully roll the dough back into a ball and work the walnuts into the dough. Cover with a damp towel and let it rest for another hour.
Preheat your oven to 350°F. Use a serrated knife to slash an x on top of the ball of dough. Place on a baking sheet and bake for 35-40 minutes.
