The Sims 4: Triple Chocolate Cupcakes

December 15, 2015 By Victoria Rosenthal

The Sims 4: Triple Chocolate Cupcakes

I am very behind on The Sims 4 expansions. With last week’s release of its Get Together expansion, I figured it was time to do another delicious recipe. I find cupcakes to be the best dessert to bring to any get together. They are a bit of work to make but they are basically hassle free once you arrive at the event. You don’t have to worry about cutting them into pieces or keeping them warm. This week we are going to take a look at the Super Chocolate Tummers Bomb from The Sims 4. I saw these little guys in game and knew immediately it was time to make the most chocolate packed cupcakes I could muster. These little guys do require a bit of work. If you find you are short on time feel free to use premade frosting – the other elements I recommend making from scratch.

Required Equipment: 2 bowls, saucepan, cupcake tray, cupcake tins, stand mixer (or hand mixer), whisk
Results: 18-24 cupcakes
Ingredients:
Cupcake
½ cup (60g) cocoa powder
½ cup hot coffee
4 oz dark chocolate
2 cups (300g) all-purpose flour
¾ tsp baking soda
¾ tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
1 cup (2 sticks) butter
1 cup (230g) sugar
½ cup (100g) brown sugar
3 eggs
2 tsp vanilla extract
½ cup sour cream

Frosting
8 oz cream cheese, room temperature
8 tbsp butter, room temperature
12 oz chocolate, melted and cooled
pinch salt
1 tsp vanilla extract
3 cups confectioners sugar
½ cup sour cream

Ganache
4 oz chocolate
½ cup heavy cream
1 tbsp butter

chocolate chips

Preheat your oven to 350°F. In a bowl combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. In another smaller bowl combine the hot coffee and cocoa powder. In a saucepan melt the butter and chocolate. Once melted stir in the the sugar and brown sugar.

Pour the contents of the saucepan in the bowl of a stand mixer. Mix on low until the mixture has cooled. Add and mix in the eggs one at a time. Then add the vanilla extract and cocoa powder mixture and mix until combined.

Next mix in a third of the flour mixture. Follow that with half of the sour cream. Add another third of the flour mixture and then the remaining sour cream. Finally mix in the last of the flour and your batter will be ready for baking.

Take your cupcake tins and fill them ¾ths of the way up with the batter. Once you have filled all your tins, bake for 15-20 minutes or until they pass the toothpick test. Allow the cupcakes to cool completely before dressing them up.

While the cupcakes are baking, take some time to make your ganache and frosting. In a saucepan on medium-high heat, place all the ingredients in and wait until it has melted. Set aside and allow it to cool.

To make your frosting, place your cream cheese and butter in a stand mixer. Mix until well combined. Add and mix the cooled chocolate, vanilla extract and salt.

Add the confectioners sugar in three batches. Finally add the sour cream. If the frosting appears to be too thick slowly add more sour cream.

To construct the cupcakes, dip the cooled cupcakes in the ganache. Place them in the refrigerator for five minutes – this will harden the ganache a little bit.

Once the five minutes pass, frost each of the cupcakes and add chocolate chips on the top. Now enjoy your ultra chocolatey cupcakes!

These look so good…and just like the ones in the game! I always drool over the awesome food in Sims 4, but I never actually thought about making some myself. I should try it! 🙂
