The season might be over for the Florida Mayhem but I am continuing my pursuit to make Overwatch League themed popsicles for each of the teams. The Mayhem started the season with a team of only six members. If any of them would have been unable to play, the team would have been in a difficult situation. Fortunately, they were able to make it through stage one without that happening and eventually expanded their roster. One of my favorite additions to their team was Sayaplayer. His aim on Widowmaker makes him a marvel to watch. During stage one, the Mayhem were one of my favorite teams to watch for their entrances. Each match they would come up with a silly walk-in and I’m sad they eventually stopped doing them.
I was never a big fan of the Florida Mayhem’s team colors because of how strongly they clash on their jerseys. But when I was coming up with their popsicles, I was really excited about the colors because what combination is more iconic and delicious than strawberry and banana. This flavor combo has been one of my all time favorites with all kinds of desserts. While making these, my corgi Kanji was really interested in the banana flavor layer. The moment the blender started spinning, he walked into the kitchen sniffing. He knew what I was doing and lucky for him I saved a small piece of banana for him.
Ingredients:
Banana Layer
3 bananas
1 cup vanilla yogurt
1 tsp vanilla extract
3 tbsp yellow food dye
Strawberry Layer
4 ounces strawberries
½ cup vanilla yogurt
1 tbsp honey
5 drops red food dye
Combine the bananas, vanilla yogurt, and vanilla extract. Blend until completely smooth and well combined. Add the yellow food dye and mix well.
Transfer about half of the mixture into your popsicle molds and fill each 1/3rd of the way up. Place in the freezer (no sticks) for 30 minutes. Place the remaining filling in the refrigerator while you work on the second layer.
For the second layer, combine the strawberries, vanilla yogurt, and honey. Blend until completely smooth and well combined. Add the red food dye and mix well.
Pour the strawberry mixture into the popsicle molds on top of the banana layer. Fill each about 2/3rds of the way up. Place in the freezer (no sticks) for 30 minutes.
Add the remaining banana filling on top of the strawberry layer. Place the popsicle sticks in, cover, and place in the freezer overnight and let freeze for at least 24 hours.
Remove the popsicles from the mold when you are ready to enjoy these.
