Moira is one of my favorite characters to play in Overwatch. I really enjoy playing a support that can hold her own in the battlefield. One of my favorite parts of her design is balancing my healing and damage output. If you don’t participate in combat, you will reduce how long you can heal. It is extremely important to be doing both in order to succeed while playing Moira. It was also refreshing to have an evil support character. Moira broke the mold of the other do good supports. She believes she can better humanity, but her aim is one of making humans better than they are now without concern for what gets her there. She may have been kicked out of Overwatch, but Talon continues to fund her research behind the scenes.
The Overwatch Winter Wonderland event is back with all new rewards and a winter themed Blizzard World. While looking through the new items, I noticed Moira got her own toast victory pose. I knew I had to make a delicious drink to represent Moira. An Irish hot chocolate seemed like the appropriate drink for her. You could just go out and buy some premade Irish cream but where is the fun in that! It is extremely easy and only requires a few ingredients to make. While coming up with this recipe, Jeff and I decided the Irish cream represents Moira’s healing biotic grasp and the hot chocolate is the damaging biotic grasp. Sure each individually is wonderful but combining the two makes for a dangerously delicious combo.
Ingredients:
Irish Cream
1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
1 cup heavy cream
1 ½ cup Irish whiskey
1 tsp cocoa powder
2 tsp vanilla extract
½ tsp almond extract
Whipped Irish Cream
½ cup heavy cream
2 tbsp powdered sugar
3 tbsp Irish cream
Hot Chocolate per serving
1 cup milk
2 tbsp sugar
¼- ½ tsp ground cinnamon
1 – 2 oz bittersweet chocolate
¼ cup Irish cream
Combine all the ingredients for the Irish cream in a blender until well mixed together. Place in an airtight container and place in the refrigerator to keep cold. This mixture will be good for up to two weeks.
To make the whipped Irish cream, place all of the ingredients in a bowl. Whip together until it forms stiff peaks. Place in the refrigerator until you are going to use it. I recommend using the prepared whipped cream the same day you make it.
For the hot chocolate, combine the milk, sugar, and ground cinnamon in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring to a light simmer and add the chocolate chips, adding 1/2 ounce at a time to balance the chocolate level of your drink. I like my drink to be extremely chocolatey so I put the full amount.
In a cup, combine the hot chocolate, milk, and Irish cream. Top with whipped Irish cream.
