This week, Final Fantasy XIV has a new Final Fantasy XV crossover event. There is a whole event with Noctis but the coolest part is that you can unlock the Regalia as a mount. When I was playing FFXIV, there were some pretty neat mounts but they were all single riding only. It was neat being able to run around the world riding an adorable chocobo but the Regalia is really an amazing mount. The Regalia allows members of your party to ride along with you, just like the car boys of FFXV. When I saw this, I was really tempted to load up the game again just to unlock this neat mount. Hmm… There is a free login campaign happening right now that would be more than enough time to finish the quest. I’ll have to sit and think on this one but if you have the game, go unlock this really cool mount!
I’m not much of a coffee drinker, but Jeff on the other hand enjoy himself a good cup of black coffee. When I do decide to try some coffee, It needs to be very sugary and creamy. Most of the time, I decide it is not worth it and sit contently with my tea. The triple cream coffee in Final Fantasy XIV is sweet enough that I had to make a version I would enjoy I knew I wanted to have three different sources of cream when developing this recipe. The end result includes heavy cream, sweetened condensed milk, and whipped cream. The drink is honestly more of a dessert than a coffee but you can control how much sweetened cream you add. When making myself a cup, I added ¼ cup of the cream while my husband only needed one tablespoon. The sweetened cream is a very easy recipe and can be made in advance. It also holds really well in the refrigerator so you can use that to sweeten up your day however you would like.
Ingredients:
Sweetened Vanilla Cream
1 cup heavy cream
1 cinnamon stick
½ vanilla bean, split in half
4 cardamom pods
2 tsp maple syrup
1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
1 tsp ground cardamom
½ tsp ground cinnamon
Per Serving
1 cup brewed coffee
1 tbsp – ¼ cup sweetened vanilla cream
whipped cream
ground cinnamon
Combine the heavy cream, cinnamon stick, vanilla bean, and cardamom pods in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring to a simmer. Simmer for 15 minutes.
Remove from the heat and remove the cinnamon stick and cardamom pods. Take the vanilla bean and scrape the seed and return the seeds to the cream mixture.
Transfer the flavored heavy cream into a blender. Add the maple syrup, sweetened condensed milk, ground cardamom, and ground cinnamon. Blend for about 1 minute or until all the ingredients come together. Place in an airtight container and place in the refrigerator to keep cold. This mixture will be good for up to two weeks.
To make a cup of triple cream coffee, in a cup add your desired amount of the sweetened vanilla cream. Add coffee brewed however you’d like (Jeff suggests this method) and stir until mixed together. Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon.
