It is E3 week and there are tons of new game announcements. There are many games that I’m excited for but today we are going to focus on Bethesda’s next big game, Starfield. This game is still a bit away, late 2022. I’ve really enjoyed my time with previous Bethesda titles and have been intrigued by Starfield since it was announced in 2018. I’m excited to eventually get more information about this game to see their take on space exploration. I’m really curious how big of a universe they are going to let us explore. I can make a lot of guesses but honestly, there isn’t too much information to work off. We will just have to wait and see what is to come in the future.
This first look at the game, which is just a cinematic trailer, shows us a character preparing to launch into space. One of the things I noticed is the amount of food just sitting around the ship. I really appreciate that food is something Bethesda thought is important to highlight in this trailer. There were notes about picking up Tranquilitea (not decaf!), a bag of Chunks potato chips, apples, and of course the highly detailed sandwich. While the trailer was first playing, I was completely distracted by the sandwich and knew I had to make my own version of this. It is a really simple recipe and extremely delicious. For now, enjoy this space sandwich and let’s all dream of what delicious treats our characters will enjoy while traveling through space. I can’t wait to fill up a spaceship with cheese wheels.

1 cup (240 g) warm water
½ cup (120 g) rice vinegar
2 tbsp (30 g) sugar
pinch of salt
½ tbsp (4 g) fennel seeds
½ red onion, thinly sliced
Combine the warm water, rice vinegar, sugar, and salt in a large airtight container. Whisk together until the sugar has dissolved. Add the fennel seeds and red onions. If the red onions are not covered, add additional rice vinegar.
Cover and place in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. The longer they are left to pickle, the more flavorful the red onion will become. Can be stored in the refrigerator for about 2 weeks.
