I am really excited to finally be able to tell you what I’ve been working on these past few months. The Ultimate Final Fantasy XIV Cookbook: The Essential Culinarian Guide to Hydaelyn will be hitting the shelves November 9th. I can’t go into much detail yet, but I can show off a few images being shared by Insight Editions and Square Enix. I’m sure many of you noticed this past year that my blog posting and streaming schedule have been a bit more chaotic than usual. I’ve typically been able to keep up with my weekly blog during book projects, but this project was 70+ recipes in a 2 month window, so I had to clear some time in my schedule. But speediness aside, I loved working on this project the entire time.
I’m still in a bit of shock that I had the opportunity to work on this project. I have been playing FFXIV since A Realm Reborn patch 2.3. I remember when I was first leveling my culinarian, many Knight’s Breads were made for leve quest progress. I took a very long break, but picked it up again right before Shadowbringers was released. As I was catching up, I knew after playing Heavensward that this game was gonna always be installed and ready to play whenever I felt like it. It is one of the MMOs that I always come back to. Being able to contribute to the game franchise is a dream come true.
As with my previous books, not only did I develop the recipes and photography but with the help of my husband, Jeff, we were able to create a wonderful duo to take you through the culinary scene of Hydaelyn. The two characters are Gyohan, a delightfully curious and occasionally clumsy Namazu culinarian, and Mogria, a well-traveled and knowledgeable Moogle with a loose understanding of personal property. The two of them go on a grand adventure learning all of the delicious recipes of the world while trying to find ways to interact with the amazing Warrior of Light and all the Scions. These two characters were so fun to develop and I do hope you all enjoy their banter as much as we did.
I’ve always been surprised by how much food there is in FFXIV. The list is so long that I had to pick and choose which items to include in the book. I can’t go into too much detail about which recipes are included, but I think I selected a nice variety of items. Each of the recipes are tied to a region in Hydaelyn with delightful commentary from Gyohan and Mogria. Something I can say is that I did not include a recipe for the infamous Archon Loaf. I know lots of readers will be saddened by its absence, but if the bread made of fish paste and other surprising ingredients isn’t good enough for the Warrior of Light, then it isn’t good enough for Mogria! But another fan favorite, Coffee Biscuits, are included in the book. If you’d like a sneak peek of those, I will be making them live on stream today (8/4/2021) at 2 PM. You can join me on Twitch, link here, and I’ll be talking about the project.
For now, that is all the information I can share. You can preorder this book at your favorite bookstore. I do have an Amazon affiliate link on the side bar that you can use to preorder if you’d like. Expect more updates as we get closer to the release. Wasshoi!
Note: This post contains affiliate links. This means that at no additional cost to you, I will earn a commission if you click through and make a purchase. These are products I recommend and use in my kitchen.

Holy crap! I preordered the cookbook (I main CUL on FFXIV) and it’s so incredible to see that you contributed so much to it! I’m even more impatient now for the cookbook to arrive – having tried many of your recipes before, I’m absolutely over the moon and expecting even more great food!
