How has it already been 10 years? All that time writing about food in video games! Over 400 recipes just on this blog. 5 cookbooks released and 2 more coming out later this year. I can’t believe it. This all started as a passion project to help improve my own cooking skills in the kitchen. Everything I’ve learned, I’ve been able to share with you all over these years.
You all get constant updates about what I’m up to so instead I want to use this post as a way to thank everyone who has made this journey possible. First to my husband, Jeff, all the work he does in the background, from being my copy editor to giving me his honest feedback on how the dishes taste, is what has kept this whole thing going. He has greatly assisted in all of the book projects by helping out with the lore writing in each. Jeff has always been extremely supportive and my number 1 fan as I’ve been pursuing this dream of mine.
Huge thanks to my wonderful Kanji who is my little sous chef. He likes to sit and watch as I’m working in the kitchen or taking photos. I love having him keep an eye on me. He brings a smile to my face any time I glance over at him. Don’t worry, he gets rewarded often with treats because of his great work. As the weather has gotten nicer down here, we are even starting to have some outdoor sessions, where he gets to relax in the sun while I work on my backlog of write ups.
My agent, Kate McKean, has made the stress of reading through contracts such a breeze over the years. I really appreciate all the work she does for me. She has been an amazing resource for learning how things are handled in the publishing world. Thank you for the awesome work you continue to do for me!
Thank you to all my friends and family that have been cheering me on, eating the extra food I make, and taking pictures of all the food they find in games they are playing. With the amount of cooking I have to do at times, I’m happy that I have several friends I can call on to come pick things up. I hate wasting food but I also shouldn’t be eating a whole cake on my own. Thank you all for your sacrifice!
Thanks to all the individuals in the game industry, creating games, building communities, and making this space so welcoming. Without you all there would be no recipes to be inspired by. This blog would have been just a generic food blog with no theme. I appreciate the amount of care and effort you all have been putting into your game worlds and including food in them. It has kept me inspired and has helped me expand my culinary knowledge.
Finally, I want to thank everyone who has ever looked at this blog, read through one of my cookbooks, or has made any of my dishes. Seeing the joy people get from this is what really brightens my day and keeps me going. Thank you so much. Honestly, without you all this journey would have probably ended years ago.
I still thoroughly enjoy doing this work. As long as you all continue to use my recipes I will be around whipping up new recipes for many years to come. One last time, thank you everyone for all the support!
