Animal Crossing is the ultimate sit back and chill game. It has been a long while since I’ve last played, but I do look back fondly on all the time I spent with my fellow island dwellers. I really should go back to the game because right now is the season of bugs and fish my museum is missing. It would be nice to finally wrap that all up. There are also tons of islands for Kapp’n to take me to. I also never picked up the DLC they added. It really does give you a lot of freedom to make some interesting designs on the fly. So much game that I never wrapped up. At least I know it is sitting there waiting for me to pick it up whenever I have the sudden need.
Animal Crossing got a huge update that added several food items. I’m always a sucker for pasta dishes and this spaghetti napolitan is a very easy dish to put together. I know you are probably looking at the ingredient list and confused to see ketchup on there. I promise, when everything comes together it works so perfectly well. It adds a sweetness that compliments all of the savory ingredients that you wouldn’t expect. If you are looking for a quick meal to make during the week, this will fit the bill. I did not specify the type of sausage to use because anything will work. Just make sure when cooking it that the sausage is cooked through.
½ cup ketchup
1 tbsp tonkatsu sauce
½ tsp sugar
1 lb spaghetti, cooked and ⅓ cup of the water reserved
5 garlic cloves, minced
1 onion, sliced
1 green bell pepper, sliced
10 mushrooms, sliced
3 sausages, sliced
kosher salt
parmesan cheese
Combine the ketchup, tonkatsu sauce, and sugar in a small bowl and set aside. Heat a large non-stick pan with 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the garlic and onions. Cook until the onions have softened, about 3 to 5 minutes.
Add the sausage, bell pepper, and mushrooms. Cook until everything is cooked through, about 8 to 10 minutes.
Add the pasta and toss to combine. Pour in the mixed sauce and mix until everything is coated. If the sauce is too thick, add the reserved pasta water to thin it out a bit. Season with salt. Serve with fresh grated parmesan.
