It’s hard to go into much detail about NEO: The World Ends with You without going into spoiler territory, but the game is worth a try if you haven’t picked it up yet. I’d suggest it’s even more worthwhile if you played the previous game, but it isn’t required to understand what is going on. Especially considering how long it’s been since the previous title came out, NEO feels familiar and comforting while still keeping its own identity as a standalone game. Try it, the music and visuals are great and the story and combat are pretty unique.
There is such a long list of foods I can’t wait to recreate from NEO: The World Ends With You. The food art in this game is just top tier, no wonder the characters are always so happy when they grab a bite. Each of the dishes makes me want to reach out and eat the whole plate. This week we are making the Chocolate Chunk Scones from Hachiko Café. Scones are a breakfast treat that I will find any excuse to make. It is super easy to put together, doesn’t require a ton of ingredients, and can be prepared in no time. This past weekend, I actually made an extra batch of these because I was feeling like I needed some scones.
2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 tbsp baking powder
1 tsp kosher salt
⅓ cup sugar
¼ cup light brown sugar
½ cup unsalted butter, cubed and frozen
1 cup whole milk + extra for brushing
1 tsp vanilla extract
12 oz chocolate bars, cut into chunks
turbinado sugar, for topping
Preheat an oven to 375°F. Combine the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and light brown sugar in a large bowl. Combine the butter with the flour until it resembles a coarse meal.
Add 10 ounces of the chocolate chunks and toss to combine. Combine the milk and vanilla extract in a small bowl. Add to the large bowl with the flour and mix together until just combined (do not overwork).
Transfer the dough onto the countertop and form into an 8 inch wide disc. Cut into 8 portions, like a pizza. Prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper and non-stick spray.
Place the scones on the baking sheet. Top each of the scones with the extra chocolate chunks and press in. Brush the top of the scones with milk and sprinkle with turbinado sugar. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown.
