A few weeks ago I finally finished the story for Tears of the Kingdom. The end sequence of the game was incredible, one of my favorites in a while, and was very satisfying to go through. I really, really enjoyed the game and all of the quality of life changes from Breath of the Wild were very appreciated. I spent many evenings just getting lost in the world and searching for secrets, exploring different shrines, and flying around the different sky islands. The depths were probably the location I spent the least amount of time with because I found the exploration there a bit repetitive after a while. There are a ton of things still left for me to do in the game and I know I will jump back in again at some point.
There are several new recipes in the game and many of them use tomatoes and Hateno cheese. This week, we are putting together one of the easiest recipes in the game. Link needs some easy to assemble snacks as he is making his way around Hyrule and the Cheesy Tomato fits that bill. I love an excuse to eat cheese and tomatoes. This recipe can be easily adjusted to your liking. Don’t like the cheese I picked? Switch it out for another cheese (mozzarella is a prime candidate here). As always, the beauty of cooking is making things to your liking and enjoy!
2 oz brie, cut into ¼ oz cubes
2 oz jarlsberg, cut into ¼ oz cubes
4 cherry tomatoes, cut in half
4 olives, cut in half
8 small basil leaves
olive oil
balsamic vinegar
kosher salt
ground black pepper
Top the brie pieces with the jarlsberg and lightly press together to have them stick to one another. Place an olive half on top of each of the combined cheeses.
Pierce a basil leaf with a toothpick and then pierce through the olive and cheese. Place a tomato half on top, cut side up, and piece the toothpick through. Transfer to a serving plate and repeat with the remaining portions.
Drizzle the prepared items with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Season with salt and pepper and serve immediately.
