Since finishing the main story in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, I’ve been making my way through all of the side content in the game. I’m impressed by how much extra stuff was added to the game. I know RGG Studios kept emphasizing there was a lot of stuff to do, but I was still shocked by all the content. I barely had any time to lose myself to mahjong while trying to complete activities like Dondoko Island and Sujimon. As always, there are a ton of substories throughout the game and Ichiban is always ready to help everyone. There are many substories that I’d like to talk about but today we will talk about one of my favorites, A Love As Sweet As Lemons.
On the east side of Waikīkī street, there is a young boy, Tony, standing behind a lemonade stand. One taste and Ichiban is impressed with the amazing quality of the lemonade. Ichiban starts a conversation with him and is shocked that the kid is running the business on his own. Tony says he’s been doing this to get a gift for Ms. Mao, an individual who took care of him during his time in the orphanage. She also taught him how to make this lemonade. He is raising the money in order to get her a tiara as a thank you before she moves to New York. Ichiban decides to help Tony out by giving free samples to all the locals.
The moment I started this quest I knew this was going to be a recipe I’d be making and now here we are. Homemade lemonade is one of Jeff’s favorite treats that I make on occasion. We really should consider a lemon tree. Whenever a lemonade shows up in the game I know it is something he wants me to recreate. I love how Tony allowed his customers to adjust the sugar levels of their lemonade. This recipe allows you to do just that or you can just combine everything and call it a day.
Simple Syrup
1 cup sugar
½ cup honey
1 cup water
Lemon Mixture
2 cups fresh lemon juice
5 cups water
Combine sugar, honey, and water in a saucepan and place over medium-high heat. Mix together and bring to a simmer. Once the sugar and honey dissolves, remove from the heat to cool.
Transfer to an airtight container. Can be stored in the refrigerators for up to 2 weeks.
In a large pitcher, combine the lemon juice and water. Place in the refrigerator to chill overnight. Can be stored in the refrigerators for up to a week.
At this point, you can combine the lemon mixture with the simple syrup if you’d like. Taste as you add the syrup to your preferred sweetness level. This is my preferred level of syrup to lemon.
If you’d like to keep things separated, Add 1 to 3 tablespoons of the simple syrup to a cup. Pour in the lemon mixture and mix together. Test and adjust the sweetness level to your liking. Serve with ice and a lemon slice.
