The Houston Outlaws are my favorite team of the Overwatch League. During the off-week between stages 2 and 3, the team did a signing tour here in Houston. I decided I wanted to give a small gift to the team for all the amazing work they had done during the season. Of course, I was going to cook something up for them because cooking is my way of showing my appreciation. I baked a full batch of Outlaws-themed cupcakes (here is a video of me giving them to the team) and a batch of brownies for Muma. I was extremely excited to meet them and give them this small gift. The reactions from them, other fans, and the organizers really made my day.
Three weekends ago, my husband and I attended a watch party here in Houston for the Outlaws v Fuel game. Being around a crowd of people also cheering the game was extremely exciting. It was interesting because at the same time the Houston Rockets were playing a playoff game. We were in a reserved room off to the side and were able to see the rest of the bar from there. The Rockets did not do too well that evening and the fans out there were not the happiest. I do think they were extremely confused each time our room would start cheering loudly. The whole experience was great and I do see myself checking out a few more of these for the remainder of the season.
It’s unfortunate that the Outlaws did not make it to the stage 3 playoffs. I’m hopefully this upcoming stage and meta shift will benefit the team and we will see a much stronger performance this time around. The Houston Outlaws are next up for themed popsicles. One of the reasons the Houston Outlaws originally caught my eye was their team colors. As mentioned in my Valiant popsicles recipe, I love the color green. To get these popsicles to match the Outlaws’ colors, you will need to use a bit of food dye. The base of these popsicles are completely vegan. I love chocolate too much but if you want to keep this recipe vegan, replace the chocolate with carob.
Ingredients:
Popsicle
1 – 13.5 oz can of coconut cream
½ cup maple syrup
1 tsp salt
¾ cup lime juice
2 tbsp lime zest
8 drops neon green food dye
Dark Chocolate
½ cup dark chocolate chips
1 tbsp coconut oil
green and white star sprinkles
Combine the coconut cream, maple syrup, salt, lime juice, and lime zest in a blender. Blend until completely smooth and well combined. Add the green food dye and mix well.
Transfer the mixture into your popsicle molds. Place the popsicle sticks in, cover, and place in the freezer overnight (at least 12 hours).
The next day, place the chocolate in a bowl and add the coconut oil. Place in the microwave and heat up until it melts. Make sure to stir everything together. Set aside and allow to slightly cool.
Set a plate with parchment paper on the side. Remove the popsicles from their molds. Take the popsicles and drizzle a portion of the dark chocolate on them and sprinkle a few green and white star sprinkles. The chocolate should solidify pretty quickly. Once set, place on the plate with parchment paper.
Enjoy immediately or wrap each popsicle in plastic to store in the freezer to enjoy later.
