Overwatch League: San Francisco Shock Popsicles

June 7, 2018 By Victoria Rosenthal

Overwatch League: San Francisco Shock Popsicles
The San Francisco Shock is a team playing for the long term. Many of their star players were not old enough to compete in the early half of the season. This team has an extremely strong DPS lineup and can constantly shuffle which players are in for each map. Their DPS players are some of the strongest in the league and many of them are just starting their career in professional games. I can’t wait to see each of these players and the San Francisco Shock improve over the next few seasons. Another big change this stage was the addition of the new head coach, Crusty. I believe his involvement has helped the team rotate properly and find their unique playstyle.

These popsicles took me a bit of time to concept out until I was happy with them. I went back and forth with a few ideas for a while until I settled on mango and sesame flavored popsicles. The San Francisco Shock are one of the only teams to use grey as one of their colors and I wanted to highlight that with these popsicles. I decided the best way to get that nice grey color was to have a small layer of black sesame. My husband wanted to add something shocking to match the Shock, so he added some citric acid afterwards for some sour flavoring. The citric acid is completely optional and sprinkled on after they have frozen completely.

Ingredients:
Mango Layer
1 ½ cup mango (about 3), ripe and diced
1 cup coconut milk
2 tbsp sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
5 drops of orange food dye
1 drop of red food dye

Black Sesame Layer
2 ½ tbsp black sesame seeds
2 tbsp sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
¼ tsp salt
½ cup coconut milk

Garnish
citric acid (optional)

Place the mango in a blender and blend until smooth. Add the coconut milk, sugar, and vanilla extract. Blend until completely smooth and well combined. Add the food dye and mix well.

Transfer the mixture into your popsicle molds and fill each a little over 3/4ths of the way up. Place in the freezer (no sticks) for 30 minutes.

Place the sesame seeds in a blender and blend until smooth. Add the coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Blend until completely smooth and well combined.

Transfer the mixture into your popsicle molds on top of the mango layer. Place the popsicle sticks in, cover, and place in the freezer overnight (at least 12 hours). After removing the popsicles from their mold, if you want to add a layer of shock to these popsicles sprinkle with a light layer of citric acid.
