Yesterday the Overwatch League playoffs kicked off. The New York Excelsior were the Atlantic division leaders and have a bye this week so they have not started playing. When the Overwatch League was first announced and the NYXL revealed their team logo, I laughed out loud. The team’s name and logo were both very boring to me. But throughout the season this team has captured my heart. JJoNak and ArK are my favorite support duo in the entire Overwatch League. Last night JJoNak was awarded the Overwatch League MVP award and it is well deserved! It is amazing to watch JJoNak destroy the enemy team while playing as support. A lot of that is because the team works around him and keeps the support duo alive. Ark is always watching JJoNak and making sure he is healed up or damaged boosted at the right time. The DPS trio on the team is also amazing. All three of them are extremely talented in the roles they play. I’m always impressed by the number of characters Libero can play at such a high level. I have a hard time being decent at 3 and he has played at least double that on stage. I can’t wait until they start playing next week and I hope this team continues to become more amazing.
These popsicles are probably the one I have tested the most. I’ve tried different fruit and different bases but was never happy with the end result. That was until I decided to use black sesame as my base. The addition of the color from the black sesame helped me achieve the color I was hoping for with these NYXL popsicles. Also I love any excuse to add black sesame into desserts. To amplify the NYXL colors, I included blue and red sprinkles. Just typing about these makes me want to go grab another one from the freezer right now.
Ingredients:
Black Sesame Popsicle
½ cup + 2 tbsp black sesame seeds
½ cup sugar
3 tsp vanilla extract
½ tsp salt
2 cups coconut milk
3 drops of blue food dye
Dark Chocolate Drizzle
½ cup dark chocolate chips
1 tbsp coconut oil
red and blue sprinkles
Place the sesame seeds in a blender and blend until smooth. You will have to scrap the side of the blender a few times while blending this to make sure most of the seeds are blended.
Add the coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Blend until completely smooth and well combined. Add the food dye and mix well.
Transfer the mixture into your popsicle molds. Place the popsicle sticks in, cover, and place in the freezer overnight (at least 12 hours).
The next day, place the chocolate in a bowl and add the coconut oil. Place in the microwave and heat up until the chocolate melts. Set aside and allow to slightly cool.
Set a plate with parchment paper on the side. Remove the popsicles from their mold. Take the popsicles and drizzle the chocolate on them. Quickly add the sprinkles, the chocolate should solidify pretty quickly.
Once set, place on the plate with parchment paper. Enjoy immediately or wrap each popsicle in plastic to store in the freezer to enjoy later.
