I recently got an itch to jump back into Breath of the Wild and complete each of the shrines I missed. I really enjoy the different styles of the shrines which helps keep each shrine visit interesting unless it is ones that require me to waggle my controller around. Half the time, the movement just doesn’t seem correct. It is nice that I can pick up the game for a few minutes and spend some time either searching for the next shrine or figuring out a new puzzle. This is a goal I know I can finish one day and it continues to give me a reason to boot the game back up.
While playing again, I’ve been enjoying all the animations in the game. One of my favorite animations in Breath of the Wild is Link munching on food. He has a handful of animations depending on the item he is consuming. Each time my health is low and I need to power up with a meal, I sit and enjoy the entire animation because I love it so much. Of course my inventory is just filled with many different dishes to keep Link filled during his adventures around Hyrule.
It is summer time so you know what that means; time to start using the grill a whole lot more. Of course, I’m pretty lucky and can basically use the grill all year round here in Houston. But summer just gives me an excuse to invite friends over and cook a whole lot of meat. One of my favorite items to grill up are skewers! I’m excited to start working my way through the different skewers because it gets me outside and cooking recipes just like Link. This week we will be taking a look at the gourmet spiced meat. The most important element of these skewers was to establish what spices would be in the Goron Spice blend. After a bit of playing with spices, I settled with a combination that gives a nice little fiery punch while including a large medley of spices.
Ingredients:
Goron Spice
1 tsp black pepper
½ tsp cinnamon
3 tsp turmeric
2 tsp coriander
2 tsp cumin
3 tsp paprika
1 tsp allspice
1 tsp cayenne pepper
1 tsp salt
½ lb boneless beef rib, cut into large cubes
2 tbsp garlic paste
¼ cup + 2 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp red wine vinegar
Place all the spice ingredients in a bowl and mix together. Add the garlic paste, olive oil, worcestershire sauce, and red wine vinegar. Mix well.
Toss the marinade and the beef together in a bowl. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to a maximum of 3 hours.
Take your wooden skewers and let them sit in water for 30 minutes. This will prevent them from burning on the grill. Pierce the beef with a wooden skewer. Place 4 pieces of beef on each skewer. Preheat your grill.
Once the grill is nice and hot, oil the grate to prevent the skewers from sticking. Cook directly over the heat and turn the skewers every 3-4 minutes until each side of the skewer has a nice char.

This went over AMAZINGLY well when I made it. Granted, mine didnt quite look like the image due to a lack of cuts in my area. The Goron Spice was quite the kick!
