Tales of Vesperia begins with Yuri and Estelle meeting and starting an adventure to find Flynn to warn him of a deadly. As they move towards this goal, extra members begin to join their party. Of course when you add extra people to a group more issues crop up. With what starts as a search and message delivery quest, slowly begins to transform into something much more complicated. Yuri realizes several members of the governing force have become corrupted with power and decides to take matters into his own hands. But the root of the problem is much deeper than that and the party works together in order to stop the world they know from falling apart.
Any person on a long adventure to save the world from impending doom will develop an appetite. You have to make yourself something quick and easily portable to finish your quest at a reasonable pace. One simple meal that meets these qualifications is the ever customizable sandwich. The sandwich, which helps the members of your party become recharged and ready for battle, is a staple recipe in all of the ‘Tales of’ games. Each game has a different requirement for the sandwich, from just a piece of bread to bread and a variety of meats.
In the very beginning of Yuri and Estelle’s adventure, a scene plays where both character discuss the benefits of cooking and knowing a variety of recipes. As Yuri explains, “Cooking clears your mind. And it’s great for regaining your energy.” During the scene, Yuri demonstrates to Estelle how to make a sandwich with the required ingredients being bread and an egg. Knowing the base ingredients, I have decided to create an egg salad sandwich. This is a relatively simple recipe to make and doesn’t take much time at all.
Ingredients:
2 large eggs
2 tbsp (35 g) mayo
25 grams scallions
25 grams celery stalk
salt and pepper
tomato (optional)
sliced bread
Place the eggs in a pot and fill with enough water to completely cover both eggs. Cover with a lid and place over medium-high heat. Bring the water to a boil and start a timer for 8 minutes.
While the eggs are boiling, chop the scallions and celery. Try to make these cuts as thin as possible so when you are eating the sandwich you get a hint of the celery and scallions with each bite rather than being overpowered. After the vegetables are chopped, combine with mayo in a bowl.
Once the timer for the eggs has gone off, immediately take the pot off the stove and put it under running cold water. I’ve noticed that cooling the eggs before cracking them open makes it easier to remove the shell. Carefully remove the shell of the eggs. Chop the eggs.
Mix the chopped eggs into the bowl with all the other ingredients. Once combined, add salt and pepper to flavor. Taste! If there isn’t enough salt or pepper add some more, do what works for you.
Make your sandwich by placing the egg salad between two pieces of bread. With that, you have completed your first step to becoming a master chef. It wasn’t that hard, right?
